    Hi,

Got this Suzuki in for a color change. Will paint it Corvette Atomic Orange.
The owner wants the brake calipers painted also, would a BC system hold up? do they really get that hot if you drive “normal”?

it is fairly common for people to use Single Stage Urethanes on Engine blocks.

Which would probably be the route I would go.
Simply because with all the heat, and chip resistance you need. you want as little material on there as possible.

I would probably go a coat or two of epoxy based Sealer. And Single stage right over that.

BC/CC will be fine on them.

Several years ago I painted the calipers on my bike and they held up great. I eventually sold it but am sure they are still good.

I painted them with base/clear and probably used epoxy as a primer/sealer.

single stage works good, base clear is fine as well. i have used both on bikes and cars. everyone here is on the right track. a sealer coat of epoxy first then base. i sell alot of small amounts of base to a local car customizing shop who probably does 1-6 set of car calipers a week. thats how i told those guys to do them and they all hold up great.

I will paint it the Corvette Atomic Orange using PPG Deltron. It will be a bc/CC now this formula contains xirallic and my question is if the undercoat color will have any influence as when you paint a 3 stage?

if i rememeber right, that formula has a ton of clear in it and doesn’t cover well in even the premium paint lines. i would say on that formula the undercoat color will definately have an effect on final color of the paint. i would make sure the base color is a nice solid very light grey or white. wouldn’t hurt to use a sealer under it.
