Anybody else spray this color yet?Its kind of a bronzy brown, its so new there is only the standard forumula and it was like silver on brown.Anyway I had to tint it to get it blendable, and it reminded me of what a good time tinting can be
January 30, 2015 at 8:36 am #48201I work at a gm dealership. I spray ppg envirobase. Something prime was way out. I have a about 5 cards that I have tinted. Seen the other day that there is a slow lighter special. I believe it’s a new color from 2014.
January 31, 2015 at 8:30 am #48205Well thanks,I just figured it was so new that there isn’t much feedback yet. That is a great idea of sending in a sample,I haven’t done that in a long time but this color needs a variant or the standard re-formulated for sure.I had to go outside of the formula to get this one close but now I know what I’m up against next time :stoned
January 31, 2015 at 11:18 pm #48210Yes we have one but I did not have the time to use it and do sprayouts.I had to make the adjustments on the fly to get it done and it looks fine. The truck is still at the shop so I plan to take a camera shot/sprayout and possibly do the correction shot of the sprayout if need be.I work at a large shop in truck country so it is just a matter of time before I have to do it again.
February 1, 2015 at 9:40 pm #48214No,I did it in autowave ,I broke the golden rule and had the truck in the booth and adjusted it on the fly while doing a sprayout card and spraying the truck at the same time.Like I said I did not want to take the extra time to do a camera shot/sprayout/possible correction camera shot to get the color right after doing a sprayout of the one and only forumula I had.I wish we did have autobase plus, its easier to tint vs autowave that is a completely different color in the cup vs when it dries :stoned

I don’t use Autowave but I spray Envirobase HP at a GM dealership. Do you have your mix computer connected to the web for updates? Our system at the dealership downloads updates every night.
Had a few trucks come in the shop with this color, don’t recall having a problem. But as everyone knows you do get an oddball one from time to time.February 8, 2015 at 9:35 pm #48233Yeah my computer gets updates every night. I haven’t since a vehicle yet that matched the prime. But they might have updated the prime since I last sprayed it. Or different trucks from different assembly lines.
February 15, 2015 at 11:57 pm #48261
Sprayed in onyx hd a couple times, have standard and a lighter I believe. Wasn’t too bad, even if I did have to tint it, looks the same in the cup as it does on the car. That’s a definite plus.
Yes you are lucky there, autowave is completely different when dry, makes it challenging to tint.I hope it was just an oddball color and the next ones are closer :pFebruary 23, 2015 at 6:06 am #48310Hey I had trouble with it in cromax to only had to change metallic size surprisingly an awesome match hate tinting theirs not much time to play with colors.
