Hi does anyone have one of these or know any faults? I’ve had mine since July and I’m on my second lead from transformer to sander and it has started to act up now too of course the 3m rep says I’m the only one in world who this has happened to.
Attachments:November 6, 2013 at 1:16 pm #45321I was thinking had to be more than me  Its not like I’ve been rough with them i looked after them well the transformer sits on a trolly which is wheeled beside what ever is to be sanded no wires stretched neither have ever been dropped or knocked and I’m only a one man band so no one else to have abused it. A bit of time with a microfibre cloth and blowgun and it would look like new very disappointed with the apparent quality (or lack off) for the price.
And the mirka broke too that’s what I was thinking to replace this with :compsmash how long did it last 2months or just over it is 3m’s record.
November 6, 2013 at 5:32 pm #45322Just a quick update on these according to 3m rep 3m are now aware of a manufacturing fault with the leads and are issuing a more robust item as replacement.
i have had the mirka one for about 8 months ( 2nd generation) with a three year warranty
We love it great little sander so smooth and you can turn it down really low for very precise sanding.
The cable did go but i actually blame my guy for that as he wraps the cables round the tool when tidying up, and that always breaks the wire just as it enters the tool when someone does that.
So he doesnt do that anymore lol
November 7, 2013 at 12:11 pm #45329That’s the thing I have no one working just me and its never wrapped its just set in 2nd shelf on trolly cable sprawled all over shelf to avoid kinking its used daily. After I got it replaced last time I blamed the fact there is no rubber sheath where the wire comes out of hard plastic plug and all the moving/sanding it just broke inside with no support so on 2nd one I got some rubberised tape and mad my own support sheath but alas no good same thing same place :deadhorse ah well least they are replacing it with improved item :kofee
They are great little sanders so quiet over air there is only 3 speeds on the 3m I never used the mirka it was what I was going to get but supplier landed with the 3m to try.

They are great little sanders so quiet over air there is only 3 speeds thats the good thing about the newest mirka one it is completely variable speed
You can have it super low for sanding narrow edges, bit’s you can never sand successfully with a conventual sander.

March 1, 2015 at 10:02 pm #48373Just a quick update in the space of one year went through 4 leads the fourth being an upgraded design and seamed to last better than the rest anyway at 3 months a time! Then speed buttons started to act up with only faster working so it has been sent back and replaced with a Mirka sander.
Turns out all the 3m sanders sold by my supplier gave same probs first couple to have speed button failure were sent for repair to 3m and had still not returned 3months later so they have replaced everyone’s with mirkas and told 3m to take all broken sanders back.[quote=”Mal” post=36828]Just a quick update in the space of one year went through 4 leads the fourth being an upgraded design and seamed to last better than the rest anyway at 3 months a time! (3M problems aside)
