any one have luck with the 3m soft edge foam tape for jambs. I think the adhesive sucks. I don’t strech it, push it down really good and it always seems to come unstuck after everything is taped up and closed off. I prefer to back tape with 1 1/2″ never have any problems then. just sometimes don’t get as soft of an edge ( mostly on dog legs)

I have problems with it sometimes to, I like the 3m transition tape better. With the foam i usually end up putting a piece of 1 1/2″ tape behind it.

    translation:
friend taped up car with 12″ paper around paint area. left rest of car uncovered. no overspray got on car. I spend countless hours taping and baging car and overspray finds its way under masking job and sticks to car. what the f#$k

New to the forum- Hello! I’ve had great success with the “DART” tape (gotta love some of the acronyms in this industry!). Something I’ve noticed- the adhesive seems to have a “shelf life”. Out of the box, once applied, needs to be utilized within a couple of hours. If I mask up at the end of the day and come in in the morning, often it will have pulled away.

Hey- are you using the green 233 tape? The back of that tape is pretty freakin’ slick- maybe the foam tape isn’t sticking to it?

we have been using the ez edger which works by folding one edge over and we apply it to the jamb with 3in green paper behind it.

I use aparture tape.. think thats how you spell that. Its not 3m and the adhesive does stick great with this one.. too good in fact… I bought it because my jobber said when you bake this brand, its really hard to get the adhesive off the body..lol lol So I bought 3 boxes of this stuff for like 20 bucks a box.. El cheapo, but it does the trick whenever I need it.. BK likes his foam tape:blush:

i dont strech the 3m and i push it down good. usually when i use it i stick it right to the paint in the jambs. they make good adhesive just must not put it on their dart tape. never tried the ez edger. seen it. if i use tape i just fold it over myself and mask inside with 12″

I’ve sold a bunch of those, but none of my suppliers have them any more. I’m wondering if the product is discontinued or the company has gone out of business.
