Made my own Sungun. Followed information hear http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=654637. Not sure where he got the $40 from but I spent $80 and got everything from Amazon.
I posted about making these a few years ago and as far as I know I was the first to do so,great that someone had the ingenuity to use a those cheap drills as the foundation for a hand held unit ,At the time i was looking for the correct light spectrum to use in a he airbrush studio ,these are being used for photography and where being recommended on such forums ,I then made the leap to use them as sunguns ,the 3M version being a total rip off like a lot of the technology sold to bodyshops by such companies
August 14, 2014 at 7:20 am #47207I’ve been using this one for a while http://www.autobodytoolmart.com/infratech-color-matcher-light-system-cm5300-p-14231.aspx
Works great, its alot cheaper than the 3m one, which I own as well. I stopped buying parts for it, it was ridiculous. 100 dollar batteries, 50 light bulbs, and then when you really need it in a pinch THE BATTERY IS DEAD!
When my last battery took a shit, i found this one, and my jobber sold it to me for 160. It has two light bulbs as well, covering a larger surface area like if you want to check the blend on a hood or something.Great bit of kit the ebay sun guns, only pit fall is battery life isnt very long but more than enough for the short times the light is actually on !
We didnt get on with the indassa paper and i found its cut doesnt last long but everyone has there own liking to products !January 2, 2015 at 10:22 pm #48148I find this whole idea very interesting and am tempted to make one just for fun.I can get the drill at the local walmart for cheap. So what about the connector/socket to plug the light in and where can I find the bulb?Does it have to be a solux or can I find a true daylight bulb at home depot or other place???Thanks
January 2, 2015 at 11:32 pm #48150Yeah thanks,Im in Canada so if I can’t find the stuff locally it won’t be worth it.I can just imagine what my supplier would want for a repalcement bulb from 3m :stoned
January 3, 2015 at 3:23 am #48152I followed a guide and made one a couple months ago. I didn’t use the solux bulb just a normal light corrective bulb which are really cheap and it works very well. Maybe not as good as the correct bulb but I couldn’t get one locally at the time. It cost me about £30 to do and took about an hour so can’t complain. It does the job.
