May 10, 2010 at 4:57 am #21105Hey Barry that looks really good, man I’m jealous of your home shop..looks awesome. Are ya going to use a stencil for the stripes or free hand it??Is that the FC 720 clear on there??
May 10, 2010 at 5:17 am #21107Thanks guys, if I hadn’t made a mess of it trying to dig gnats out of it I’d be in pretty good shape, got the bugs out but got 2 hangers in the clear trying to blow clear in the craters I made digging ’em out. Hopefully they’ll sand out , if not I may have to do some touch up on the pass fender and quarter.
Yep Jayson that’s the FC720 Clear on there over Omni base. I’m gonna free hand the stripes. Think the 1/4″ tape is a bit thinner than the original outside line but I can live with that. Stencil kit seems kinda pricey to me for what it is. I was planning on just burning the clear in over the stripes on the filler panel at the quarter seams. If I fudge up the pass quarter dealing with the bug disaster I’ll just clear the whole roof and both quarters over when I bury the stripes.
May 10, 2010 at 5:35 am #21108looking really good Bloverby.
I have good using masking tape to pick things out of the clear without doing too much damage 😉May 10, 2010 at 5:46 am #21111Wow that looks great…. I wish someday to have a shop like that at home.. well I guess I kinda live at my two shops now anyhow lolololol I love the fact that the entire build was done with the new tires and wheels… I hate working on old cars with junk wheels it just does not seem as fun… again man great job!!!!!!!!

I have good using masking tape to pick things out of the clear without doing too much damage ;)[/quote]I got the first two out using that method, the last one the clear was holding on to him to good so I had to dig him out with a q-tip with the cotton head cut off.
Problem came in when I decided it made sense to blow clear into the divots left behind from the extractions.
Got a little carried away with the clear and hung runs in those spots.
My mistake but I still feel inclined to blame it on the insects. :lol1
June 1, 2010 at 5:57 am #21689Hopefully I can get the topsides of the hood and decklid painted and get the stripes on it this weekend. It’s been a real struggle finding the free time to work on this one.

June 7, 2010 at 6:38 am #21787Thanks for the comments guys.
Only being able to do stuff on the weekends is making this project take forever it seems.
Hope to get the SS stripes on next weekend. :pcorn:
