Has anyone here used the axalta 7400 clear? What I’ve heard from my jobber sounds impressive but I thought I would check here.

i think that is the air dry clear i think thats the number its fast good for bumpers or 2 panels max i even used the slowest hardner it really fast it was high 80s low 90s when i used it last month hand slick in 10mins we put bumpers on it 30 to 40 min but you have to go back to back with it no flash or you will have a big messbelieve me jobbers didnt tell me this i found out the hard way

I use this clearcoat for jambs only, it is what it is. I still dont trust these speed clears for much. I dont think it is as fast as PPG or Sherwins speed clear. but still nice to have around.

I have used this clear for a little while now and I have to say its really nice especially for bumpers. Before I started using it I got some advice from my Rep. He said to mix it 3:1:1 instead of 4:1:1 and add 2350 additive to it. I ve done several bumpers, a couple 2 panel jobs and today a hood on a Cobalt. The Rep said for the hood to use 2.5 coats(1 full coat 1 light coat and another full coat) I thought for sure it would solvent pop but it turned out loking more than smooth enough for a cobalt. 😉 I wouldn’t use it for BMWs and such but imo it has it’s place in collision shops.
