Well been a minute or two since I posted.. With the holidays, all these womens running around here etc, i stay busy busy.. Anya who, thought I would share again..

This is a piece of crap Honda Civic.. Not one straight panel on it.. Not one, hood was buckled on both sides, passenger side frame rail ( at least thats what I call what the fender bolts to on top 😛 ) was crunched in, support was a little smacked etc…. Anyways I got it pulled out and everything lined up.. using again some tricks I learned from the master himself (BONDOMERCHANT )…

Check out the link as I don’t have time to post them up individually as normal.. I will do that when time permits

Lookin good, just polish up that e-coat and it e’ll be good as new! … thats the way of the bondo…

    January 3, 2009 at 4:21 pm #12182

 you said paint the rest Dinger.. 😆 This guy only wants certain area’s fixed.. Cant figure it out either as the whole car is trashed on the outside.. If you see the hood good in some of those pics in my photo bucket album, thats pretty much the way the rest of the car looks..

Bondo ole buddy, about half way thru the hood repair, I thought why in the world am I fixing this when I could just buy a new hood for the price I charged to fix this one. I was stupid on this hood.. Hell I still gotta put it in 2k and shoot the color today.. If I had bought a hood, it would be done.. Live and learn boys live and learn..

I gotta admit, all the years I have been spending my time on overalls and muscle cars, I could have made more money doing little jobs like this I think.. The turn around is tons faster and since you can do more cars like this I think the money is better, especially since the economy has taken a dump here in the US..

Well boys I sanded down the poly (G2) last night, so this morning its getting 3 coats of spi turbo 2k… I have to prime it instead of just sealing it.. It has alot of bodywork already in the hood and shit paint job that as I broke thru the poly last night was not feathering and I could scratch it off with my nail down to one of the other paint jobs:huh: Yeah I said 1 of the OTHER paint jobs:P

By the way did everyone have a great Christmas and New Year?? I hope so!!!!

Happy new years fellow mud slingers:evil:

Im liking it ding.. In and out.. kinda like…. well….

Jimmo glad things went well for you.. I also thought of you when I taped up the car and the front end instead of removing stuff:evil: I have considered removing the fender and hood so I can hang them and not have to buff it.. What do yall think??

paint parts on car and have to buff, or unbolt parts, hang then paint and not have to buff?? still got to reinstall them though:huh:

Everything in 2k and sanded with P600.. two hours between last coat and sanding.. I sanded it wet
Will buzz over it with a P400 and soft interface before I shoot it as it still has texture.. I just sanded it wet with the P600 to speed the drying/curing process.. you know moisture kicks iso’s, so a high moisture content ( read wet sanding ) will help it cure faster.. I also added in some accelerator to the primer.. Gosh dang whats with me being in a hurry:woohoo: :woohoo:

Anyone following this thread would know that: http://www.chemicalforums.com/index.php?topic=30463.0 😛

Hey did you also know that the isocyanate-alcohol reaction looks like this:
    R-NCO + HO-R’ ==> R-ure-R’

    😆 😆 😆

if you tape properly you wont get anymore dirt painting on the car than off. sometimes i wind up with dirtier jobs when i paint off the car:blush:

I saw that thread Jimmo.. Its the same stuff Barry has been telling me for years.. I have learned tons of information from Barry on how all these chemicals behave alone and with one another..

Dinger, I was meaning i would take the hood off and hang it vertically since when its flat it will catch every single spec of dirt that happens to float around and fall.. Im sure it would still get some specs here and there, but not that many.. I dunno, really just didnt want to buff this thing as it shouldnt be anywhere near that slick.. Its already going to have more gloss etc as it is

Next time you talk to Barry, ask him what the hell “R-NCO + HO-R’ ==> R-ure-R'” means in english.

Well crap I had this all typed up and must have closed out the window

Worked on the car this morning, then spent the rest of the day until late afternoon watching my girls while my wifey ran errands.. Got back on it tonight and got it finished.. It was sealed with SPI black epoxy, then 2 coats of base, 1 hour to flash out good, then 3 wet coats of SPI Universal Clear.. I would have only shot 2 coats of clear on it, but mixed up waaaaay more than i needed by accident.. Hey its late:ohmy:

Anyways, I can see NOW that it has little tiny blue specs all in the base… read pearl  .. the rest of this $hit car does not, so i hope the owner does not trip.. Its been repainted and guess they did not spend the money on the correct base:P I could not see it until I shot the clear.. Hang on let me go look at the base can.. yep white and blue pearl.. Maybe the painter should have looked at what was in the can before he left the paint store or shot the base……. hmmmmmmmmm:blink:
