Just wondering if anyone here has an accudraft spray booth? I’m considering installing one and was just looking for some unbiased feedback
December 9, 2012 at 6:17 am #39766I looked at Accudraft, GFS and Garmat when i put my booth in. the final choice was between accudraft and garmat. I went with garmat because I always had a woody for their booths. The accudraft was also slightly more expensive and I wasnt fond of the blue color. They are a good booth though and you wont be disapointed if you get one. I know a few shops around me that have them and they have no complaints. Who are you dealing with for the accudraft?
December 9, 2012 at 11:30 pm #39786Gem tools. He’s a guy i’ve used for alot of equipment. I could go with a chinse booth named Zhangda. It’s a good quality booth but its not as customizable. I need something very specific for my area because i’m tight for space.
im too shopping for a booth and i found the future cure booth people to be the most informative and helpful. i was searching for a booth that was a bit higher than the standard 9ft height and they quoted me a nice price for a custom 10 footer. probably something to think about if you might be doing larger vehicles like the sprinter vans.
December 10, 2012 at 2:08 am #39800Stay away from the chinese booths. I dont think they actually have the proper ETL listings. it’ll be a nightmare getting one up to code to pass inspection. I have a Garmat 3000 27′ long. dual skin with 1.5mil BTU air makeup. Mine is also on a raised basement instead of a dug pit. Installed with dry chem fire suppression was just over 55k. they wanted around 4-5 more more the accudraft. things are tight nowadays and you can likely work them some and get a real good deal. The FutureCure is manufactured about 45 minutes away from me. decent quality but still not up to par with garmat/gfs/accuspray and not any cheaper in price either
December 10, 2012 at 2:15 am #39802i spray out of one now guy i work for has bought 3 of them since 2006 he also has agarmat and ablow therm the accudrafts are really good booths
December 10, 2012 at 2:35 am #39803a lot of guys in the area have the chinese booth i’m speaking of. It’s not much less than the accudraft to be honest. I don’t think the future cure can be installed in NYC.
I’m getting quotes of alot more than you. I got a quote on the accudraft. 60,000 just for the booth. 12k for fire suppression, that’s including the mixing room. Another 8,000 for the architect. The whole booth is probably going to cost me 90k. The rules and permits and stuff needed in NYC is ridiculousDecember 10, 2012 at 3:37 am #39808guy i work for bought 3 of them accudrafts at the same time they gave him a heck of adeal on them 50k a piece if i remember correct but this was in 2006
December 10, 2012 at 3:46 am #39809ya. NY is tough. Do they allow dry chem for the fire suppression. I know one guy was telling me he had to install a sprinkler system. I would see if you can work the guys a bit.
Also with either one of those modified downdrafts, you will not need a basement. Garmat was the first out with that setup with the mechanicals on the roof and the exhaust on the back wall. Its really similar to a semidown draft set up, but I have heard from a few paint reps that they actually work pretty well. See if you can get some references from the booth company to shops that have what you are looking for. then you can check them out and see if it’s what you thought[quote=”ding” post=28802]Stay away from the chinese booths. I know of a chinese booth that was purchased In Calgary a little while ago. It had the ETL sticker and paper work with it. Upon inspection it was determined that these were forgeries and the booth was not actually certified. The booth wound up being shipped back to the supplier after nearly a year of endless hassle between the shop, booth supplier and city inspectors.
I agree with Ding, don’t waste your time with that garbage. Stick with the American or European booths
Accudraft builds one of the nicest booths available today. I have sprayed in a “Titan”, and in the “Italia” model, and they were both fantastic. Very smooth air flow (very clean work/low turbulence), easy to maintain, and extremely reliable. Garmat is very well known, but their booths are notoriously turbulent, and no matter how meticulous the painter is, it just seems that you get a bit more dirt in all of the Garmat booths I have been in. My father bought their “top of the line” booth a few years back for his new shop, and was severely disappointed with the performance and reliability after spending almost 90K on the whole package. A lesser known booth manufacturer that builds great booths at a significant discount to the “big name” companies, is Americure. Americure is based out of Arizona, and in Phoenix, you will see quite a few shops with their booths. They are EXTREMELY nice for the money, and they offer some custom options that you wont see anywhere else. GOOD LUCK!
December 14, 2012 at 11:57 pm #39943yes they allow dry chem. They want 12,400 for it. For the booth and mixing room.

I’ve seen americure, and they are significantly less money. The problem is im 99% sure they’re booths don’t have the certification necessary for NYC. There may be one model that is, but I don’t believe it has heat.
