I’ve looked through some of the other threads relating to this but can’t seem to find the answer I’m after.
When you can’t get to certain areas when sanding (places that even scotch brite can’t get too)
Will you spray an adhesion promoter, and if so what is there on the market? All I seem to find is plastic primers… when I’m just looking for something to help paint stick no matter the substrate.Cheers for reading!
July 20, 2015 at 2:46 pm #48899Not specifically bumper areas, any areas. I just want to know if there is any products that will help paint stick to any hard to rub areas.
Not trying to sound like a dick but other then bumpers there are not really any hard to scuff areas. I believe bulldog makes an adhesion promoter that works on all substrates but it seems like a waste to me. I have painted about every make and model and never thought a sheet metal panel was un-deglossable. Do you have any examples?
July 21, 2015 at 3:31 pm #48902Well I am paint stripping a motorcycle that has been painted many times before. It has long narrow holes in it that was very hard to rub. I got there in the end.
That was the main reason I wanted to know about any products, but even when you have to do a piss out on a cantrail, using an adhesion promoter would be ideal as you have to blend over shiny clear.
I know that everything is usually easy enough to sand, but sometimes you want a bit of guarantee. Another example would be painting inside a front pillar door jam whilst the door is still on the car.July 21, 2015 at 3:40 pm #48903Can you use that RM high solid promoter on anything or just for plastics?
July 26, 2015 at 4:58 am #48906I’ve not tried this way before, awesome idea thank you. I’ll have to give it ago.
July 28, 2015 at 12:33 am #48916Upol used to do a product called grip4 , in both aerosol and wipes. It was supposed to be for the very issue your discussing , adhesion around door handles , window rubbers and general lazy to reach places!
Don’t know how well it worked to be honest.
You could also try a 2k transparent sealer , most decent paint companies make it, which also gives excellent adhesion.August 1, 2015 at 2:44 pm #48922Stripping job correctly is always going to be the best option, unfortunately I’m just an employee and don’t get to call the shots =[
Those products you have mentioned though sound great and I will look into them! Thanks heaps guys 😀 - AuthorPosts
