Hey all,
My name is Richard and I just stumbled on your forums via a link in an auto body video I was watching on YouTube. Seems like a great resource so far. Thanks in advance to those of you who keep the forum running and those that offer up advice. With regard to auto body, my only experience is a one semester course I took as an elective when I was working on my BS. It was a good little intro to develop some basic techniques, but I’m sure I’ve lost all those techniques since it’s been a few years.
Last year I purchased a 1973 Chevy Nova from a good friend of mine. He used it as his daily driver for a few years and when he had to move out of state I purchased it so that we could keep the vehicle amongst our group of friends. This vehicle is the reason I’m revisiting the auto body world. I would really love to do the paint and body work myself, mainly to “learn the hard way.” I’ve got a hundred different questions about what to do when the time comes to start the body work, so in the meantime I’ll do as much research as I can so that I don’t have to drive you all nuts with my beginner woes. I’m looking to start all the body/paint work this spring.
I look forward to chatting with you all!
February 6, 2011 at 11:31 pm #28201Thanks for the friendly welcome messages. I’ll be snapping a bunch of pictures of my Nova today so I can start a thread where I can hopefully get a No-BS opinion on what I’m going to be involved in. You can only get so much out of the “car guys” you work with. I’m guessing the members of this forum will probably be able to give me much more accurate assessments!
