Hey guys.
My shop did a custom paint job on a German Sports car. Complete with body kits and original spare parts.
We don’t normally do customs so this question is mainly about how to take care of these customers after the job. It’s pretty high end so the customer expected alot.
We Wetsanded everything and 3 stage polish on everything painted. We didn’t do a full detail after the job since the painted needed a couple of months to flash out.
Now its time to get the car back for a full detail and add some clear vinyl at some critical areas.
1) Is it customary to Charge For a Detail. I wonder if I should charge extra for a top notch detail in and out. Polish and wax. I would farm it out since the owner needs more than a production detail job that we normally include.
2) Is it customary to take care of the car forever?
Thanks
March 11, 2013 at 4:39 am #42022IMO opinion if your doing a show car or they want it perfect I add it into the price in the end. That way he doesn’t know that you are charging x # $ for a cut and buff and whatever you need to do a deatail job on it.There are limits to what you should do for free IMO.
As far as upkeep I would consider that maintenance, you not going to polish the car for free for the rest of its life.I could see a little gratuity here and there but not steady up keep.
