Not knockin iwatas….. but….. I bought an ls had all kinds of problems. Nobs fallin off etc. The main prob was this tho. My trigger started hanging up. Sent it in. Got it back with paperwork unable to duplicate. Well regardless I sent back. We will see what happens. But the ls doesnt lay it down fast enough for me. I wouldnt rule them out. Other options. Hybrid hd etc. But after my go around im content with satas :headsmack:

I’ve been an iwata fan for quite a few years. I have an lph 400 1.4 that I mainly use for sealer although it does a nice job with the primer we use ,a w400 1.3 lv4 for clear and my new favorite a ws400 evo hd 1.3 for clear. This is a compliant gun ment for mainly clear although I’ve heard it does a nice job on waterbase with the right set up.I still like my 3000b for base(solvent) though. :cheer:

I’ve heard really good things about the supernova, my Dupont rep is going to let me try his for a bit when he gets them soon.

LS400 is HVLP and WS400 is compliant. I researched these pretty heavily and found that some loved them, some hated them. There is a HD version for those who want a quicker gun – apparently the standard one is a touch slow. Because they use different setups for base and clear the ideal may be an LS400 for base and WS400 for clear but I may never know since I decided on the Tekna. Was a difficult decision because I think there’s not much between them and the only thing that turned me off was the few bad reviews which could well have just been inexperience with a different gun. Set up right they’re definitely right up there with the very best.

Best deals I found were out of the UK on Ebay for the WS400. VAT free was much cheaper than anywhere else.

    That’s it in a nutshell.

Here in the UK we only get the WS400 (unless it’s changed recently). I love mine, but as said above some people aren’t so keen (although I’ve never actually met anyone that’s used one and dislikes it 😉 )

I can’t really decide which one to buy.these guns confuse me too much ws and Ls,silver cap and gold cap,for base and clear!omg! I have clean my w400 lv4 to clear some cars today,it’s really really slow, wonder the supernova spray that slow?its possible to get one supernova to paint base and clear?

And also ls400 hybrid!!!!!!!!are they different?

I have supernova for about 2 years now it is slow specially in a down draft booth but I like it for small parts and maybe one or two panels at a time it’s great for bike parts it will lay clear down super smooth
I use a 4000rp for everyday repair work

yea,i painted one side of a odyssey today and feels like painted a complete car with my sata 3000rp,but it is get a smoother finish.

I have the w400 lv4 and the ws400 evo hd 1.3 . The ws is much faster. Not as fast as the rp 3000 or 4000 but imo it’s not too much slower. With the ws I been using between 25 and 28 psi depending on the clear and the texture I want. Also the supernova has a very nice feel to it .I bought mine on e-bay at a very good price. 😉

Check this video out, you can see the speed he is spraying with a WS400 1.3hd

    April 11, 2013 at 11:36 pm #42770

that dude was kinda slow there. lol Here’s a raw video of me using my ws400 hd 1.3 with standox 16252 1.5 coats @27 psi. I,m not moving real fast but not too slow either imo with decent results. I used 28oz. of clear on that job.

Wow that looks pretty slow,it could definately be faster if he cut the distance in half,or just use an RP :pcorn:
