The local Azko Nobel jobber sells these clears, $130 for a gallon kit. Pretty cheap…
They are listed in ProSpray website.

Also, are these ProSpray clears expensive? I found out Lesonal clears cost about $350 a gallon kit!!!! :exci

no sure but it looks like it might be prospray’s economy line. i have never used prospray clears only the base which is very good. i dont think they have as good or extensive color matching system as other companies but coverage and price is great. prospray is already a pretty reasonable product so i doubt their clears cost much. they are probably in line with matrix so average would be maybe 100 a sprayable gallon for the clears. again, just guessing.

hey jim your an spi man right???just wondering how long youve been using it

    December 16, 2009 at 3:54 pm #17960

i’ve been strictly using spi clear and primer for probably 7-8 years now i guess.

It’s all Jim’s fault, he got me started with SPI. Almost time to place another order.
Gonna try the new 2.1 Euro, i hope it’s a bit softer as i hear it is.

    Thanks for response everyone.
I’ll ask the jobber about the price on Pro-Spray clear, maybe give it a try.
I guess production clear is better for spraying without booth and faster drying times.

Prospray clear is about $400 for a gallon kit.
    Ouch.

No wonder they have an economy line. :lol1

ive spent the last 4 or yrs blowing the napa fc710 clear an find it hard ta beat for the price and or performance really works good in an airdry enviroment stuff has fantastic holdout when shooting wet on wet :cheer: about 80$akit

wow, never would have guessed their clears cost that much. their base is quite reasonable. i guess they make it up on the clear :lol1 i’m glad i found the spi stuff years ago. i cant imagine the amount of money i have saved over the years by using their stuff. 400 is just crazy for any paint. it only cost around $5 to make a quart of clear activator. i know there has to be markup but thats crazy.

bondo, if you ever get the urge to try something else, give the spi euro clear a go. its about the same price as the napa you are using now. a little difficult to buff after about 3 days butother than that one of the best clears i have ever used.

lesonal is under 150 here, i think you were priced the autocryl sikkens

    December 25, 2009 at 1:44 am #18279

Lesonal is very nice for the money!

A few different reps have told me the reason paint has gone up like it has is because of the Lifetime warranty they have to give. Didn’t say exactly why? Same rep also told me what is in the can of clear costs less than the metal can itself.

I’ll try the NAPA stores later, see if they have it.

BTW,I’m pretty sure it was lesonal, which needed hardener and activator.
The only Azko Nobel clear that is under 150 is the U-TECH 4.0 clear.

Dude your jobber is either ripping you off or you are paying more than retail. My cost on any of the lesonal clears is about $130 for a kit,a kit of U-tech 4.0 clear is just over $100.I don’t even pay over $400(under $300) for HS+ premium Sikkens Clear. One really good clear you can look into is the omni 161 high solids,it is reasonably priced. If you are lookin to save money I can understand but if you want a high quality clear you are going to have to pay the price. We spend about $20,000 Plus a month on paint maybe that’s why are prices are good.

    Hi Jayson.

These are Canadian prices. I know U-TECH 4.0 is like $120 a gallon kit.
How do you like this clear? Is it hard to buff?

$130 for Lesonal kit is damn good deal, IIRC, I asked him about the glamour clear. Obviously you get better prices since you work in a shop and you frequently deal with them.

Where I live (Ottawa) I can only get: Dupont, Azko nobel and BASF stuff. And they don’t carry everything.
PPG/onmi stuff have to be ordered in from local autoparts store.

I just emailed Matrix, asking them where/how I can get their AG40 clear.

I know they do not have a distributor around here.

My prices are Canadian too,I’m in southern Alberta. It’s been awhile since I used 4.0 clear but I think it buffed nice, most akzo clears do.You might want to check out some of the dupont(7600) or nason clears(496) they are reasonably priced.Basf has a line called limco,we used a couple gallons of their clear and it was decent.Hope this helps 😉
