wow, never would have guessed their clears cost that much. their base is quite reasonable. i guess they make it up on the clear :lol1 i’m glad i found the spi stuff years ago. i cant imagine the amount of money i have saved over the years by using their stuff. 400 is just crazy for any paint. it only cost around $5 to make a quart of clear activator. i know there has to be markup but thats crazy.bondo, if you ever get the urge to try something else, give the spi euro clear a go. its about the same price as the napa you are using now. a little difficult to buff after about 3 days butother than that one of the best clears i have ever used.
trust me ive been itchin ta try the stuff i think easy wants ta give it a shot to :cheer:December 25, 2009 at 7:57 am #18291If you can get dupont try the Nason 465 clear. Very very nice for the money. I would say it is one of the easiest and best looking clears in the dupont line.
Only advice to give on it is to use chromapremier reducer instead of nason reducer
December 25, 2009 at 9:11 am #18293Hotter solvent. Seems to hold out a lot better. It slows it down also. It only takes 20% so it doesn’t up the cost much at all.
December 25, 2009 at 6:33 pm #18297This may be a kentucky thing but the hotter the solvent the slower. The slow in dupont is slower than slow in nason. Flows longer and sprays a bit nicer.

I’ll definatly visit the dupont jobber tomorrow and ask if they carry the 465 clear. Just curious about the chromapremier reducer:
I just looked at the dupont site, would you say 12375S is good enough.BTW: I also have UR50 urethane reducer from R-M, would that works as well?
December 28, 2009 at 6:38 am #18357I don’t think I would use R-M in a Dupont clear. The 12375S should work good. Especially if your air drying it. It is a little bit of a slower clear but looks and buffs very nice. I wouldn’t rule out the Napa 710 and 720 clears either. Very nice for the money. Just depends on which jobber you have in your area and who you like dealing with.
Great, thanks for reply!
If I am correct, in Canada, the Napa stores that carry paint/bodyshop stuff are called CMAX, and the local CMAX stores carries Dupont products.
I’ve never seen Napa, Sherwin Williams, De-Beer, Matrix stuff here.
Looking the TDS for 497 and 465, their drying times seem to be the same. So thats fast enough. :cheer:
December 28, 2009 at 7:02 am #18359You probably won’t find much Debeer where your at. It isn’t easy to find in the US and Canada. If you did it wouldn’t be cheap. It’s sold as a premium brand here. You will be fine with Dupont.
just found this out a few mins ago, but USC makes Amtech Clears, and its branded under Morton Glamour Clear 4.2 VOC. Same clear ive been using for the last couple of years and its the best laying clear ive used thus far. but 130 is not cheap for it although it is worth that. I get it for 65 a set up.
February 11, 2010 at 10:24 am #19465Lets us know how well you like the 465 clear. Im looking for some feedback on it.
