Well , i’m using Standoblue for about 18 months and i’m kickin it , less amount of color is used , no flash of times – full coat + fast dust coat . It’s dry in 20 minutes . I’ve been on Cromax Pro presentation and i don’t like it . For example on Audi A6 ( 2009 ) who has 26 m3 i’m spending around 1-1,2 kg of mixed base including viscosity adjuster ( 20 % for effect colors ) . Someone in post said that you have to take accounting so lets split some info :
– one day prep , 2 guys , up to 10 hours of labour x 2
– material , on day’s end application of filler– second day , 1 guy , prep filler for base coat , masking , painting , clear coat app.
– third day , unmasking , sanding + polishing ( if needed , 2 of 10 cars )
In my case costs are :
Labour : 40 work hours ( full car prep + painting ) = from 1000 to 1500 EUR
Color : 100 EUR
Clear : 100 EUR
Prep Material : 100 EUR
Paint Booth 1 hour : 50 EUR
TOTAL FOR WORK AND MATERIAL minimum : 1400 EUROn top + 2000 EUR for Mastery :teach ,
So for car of this size minimum minimum minimum income is 2.000 EUR or in dollars around 3000…
In my country that’s a LOT of money , for example in Switzerland i was at my friends shop , oh man the pricing…. full paint job on 7 series BMW goes from 8 do 12000 EUR :exci
So man , there’s money just take it
We r suppose to be getting 35 off list and each car gets it’s own materials ticket to track materials And I’m the only one using the product the only thing my preper uses is primer and he’s good about leaving no waste. My jobber is probly one of the worse in the area the switched from Sikkens to DuPont about 2 years now and they r not up to date with anything and no support but like most jobbers they tell me everyone else is making money we don’t know y ur not but I call those shops and they’ve been told the same thing but oh well shit happens and boss says we’re staying with the jobber cause they have a good relationship
November 4, 2013 at 8:33 am #45293painterman, I’m sorry your having a bad time down there.. I do have alot of complaints about price increases here lately, but most all raw materials paint related come from the same sources, so most manufactures are going to have these same increases.. imo.. Your jobber should be able to work with you and find out where the weakness is as far as profitability?
Yea I know all paint companies have price increases a few times a year and far as my jobber I think they t probly the worse ones around when it comes to pricing they have been caught numerous time jacking the price up by like 30 percent over list then telling the customer they r getting 30 off so there is really no hope with goin through my jobber but thanks for everyone’s input
They have had the same jobber since before I started and I’ve tried everything I can think of to get them out but they have a good relationship but I’ve even caught them not give us our discount and all my boss said was they will make up for it they r goin through a rough time and I said they shouldn’t make us pay for they bad business but they stayed with them anyway
