Been doing this funky little thing between everything else at work.

Had it sat around ready for paint for a couple weeks so got stuck in today.

It’s a Daihatsu Copen. We have fitted new rear quarter panels, 2 repairs to inner wheel arches, 2 new wings, various other rust repairs, stripped the sills back to metal etc.

Colour is 3 stage Pearl White, code W16. Nice colour.

DeBeer Wash Primer (1:1) 1 Coat
    DeBer HS Primer/Surfacer (3:1) 3-4 Coats
DeBeer Ground Coat (2:1) 3 Coats
DeBeer Pearl Coat (2:1) 2 Coats
    Lechler Macrofan HS 2000 Clear Coat (2:1 + 5-20%) 2 Coats.

    Bumpers and other plastics tomorrow.

Kind of a different looking little car.

I remember the wife fancying one of these when they came out. Owner must like it to put that kinda coin in it I’m sure bits from diahatsu aren’t cheap.
Keep up the good work looking well now anyway. :cheers

That came out nice. Did you paint the wings / fenders at the same time?

I’ve driven a few of those. Ideally you need two, one for each foot like roller skates :rofl

:agree :rofl :rofl , but it looks sweet!

I couldn’t say what they have spent on panels an other parts but that added to what were charging is probably near the value of the car. It is a nice little car and a rarity I’m told being the colour it is with matching interior etc.

Andy, I painted the wings at the same time as I couldn’t risk them not matching. I did the bumpers and other parts seperate though and they’re a perfect match.

The clear had died back abit which was disappointing although expected with all that base. I did think of putting 3 coats on but didn’t want to risk anything. It’s polished up nicely after a nib with 2000 and a buff.

I might put some finished pictures up once its complete.

If I had a tenner (15 bucks) everytime I heard the rollerskate joke while I’ve been working on this I’d be a rich man!!
