I recently took in a car to be painted all over. The car had been previously painted and the masking left a lot of rubbers and moldings painted and covered in over spray. What is a good way to clean the paint and over spray off the soft rubber areas such as around windows and doors. I have tried thinners and scraping with a knife or blade but is time consuming. Is there a product or technique that would do the job quicker and cleaner?

Gun Wash and elbow grease 😉

you can try a steel wool pad. might scratch so test it first. when it becomes too difficult i replace them but they are sometimes pricey.

    lacquer thinner, white scotchbrite

If they are the soft type rubbers that lift away from the body slightly, I use a filler/bondo spreader to lift the rubber away and protect surrounding paintwork and use a red/grey scotchbrite to take it off.

Try a small area first though as sometimes the scotchbrite is too aggressive and tears the rubber up.

that’s why I use a white scotch brite. maybe 0000 steel wool.

I have them around for tint work.
