Ok guy’s have this to do for a family members work vehicle. it’s a rough work vehicle so he just wants it tidied up to look at bit more respectable.

this is what it’s supposed to look like:

as u can see, the damage is right on the swage line.

sadly at the moment i don’t have a stud welder, i only have this slide hammer where i have to drill holes, not ideal but it will have to do and i can probably borrow a mig to tack up the holes after.

so any tips or tricks for this job or is it just a matter of working through it and pulling the dents and tapping down the high spots?

Hard to make out the pictures, but if you can get ahold of a mig welder i’d rather see pins tacked on and pulled with something rather than drilling holes. Or for that matter being a bedside, you should be able to get behind most of it and hammer and dolly.

Thats an easy fix,get up under the quarter panel and tap out the damage as close as possible, grind down the paint on the exterior and pave it with filler, block till flat than skim it with glaze of putty, use etch primer on all bare metal spots than a good 2k urethane primer, block, than base and clear.

Navara? You can reach up from underneath and use hammer and dolly technique to level then just fill away as normal.

i’ll have a look tomorrow, if i can get behind it, it would be great!

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I would try through the tail light pocket. I don’t have a stud gun at work, I weld washers on and use my slide hammer.

good thinking, i’m sure i could buy a cheap mig, stick a stud nozzle on it. i could weld a nut onto a set of grips and screw it onto my slide hammer or do as u say and use washer. i’ll try and get behind the damage first anyway.

Well got it pretty flat, cheers guy. Just a drop of paint and i’m sure he’ll be happy.
