Last night I slid on some black ice and just barely nicked a tree. Front passenger fender and bumper are messed right up, and I’m gonna need a new passenger headlight as well. The headlight I know I can fix myself, but the fender and bumper I’m not sure since I’ve never done stuff like that. Do I need any kind of special tools or equipment? I’m hoping its as easy as I think it is. Also, and idea on how much it would cost for the parts at a salvage yard? Its sunday and all of them around here are closed today. I would really like to get this taken care of quickly and I’m freaking out. Thanks guys

here’s a pic of the damage

no special tools are needed to do that job unless the coresupport got pushed back alittle bit as for changing the bumper and fender you could do it and what better to learn on then your own car.. as for used parts check out this website http://car-part.com/ and put it the info about your car then that should give you an idea what the price would be and if there is any available in your area.. there is also a good chance that you will not find the same color parts in used parts so ther is either going to be mismatched parts or paint them or have someone paint them for you.. hope that helps alittle…

ouch …. trees are pretty solid , don’t think your gonna pull a quick fix on that unless you can find the parts the same color at a wreckers.

generally used parts are 1/2 the cost of new :kofee yup car-part.com is great and :welc

:welc sorry for planting that tree (Doh)

Anyway to me it looks like it may cost $750-1100 if you even did it yourself which maybe a steal to you

bumper cover will be around $250-350 , front fender $150- 350 and a headlight assmbly will be $100-275 then add refinishing costs prolly around $125-175

if you buy aftermarket parts you will need to fit them aswell . above cost are salvage yard prices, and may need work before they can be refinished or used

looks like a good spring project , keep us posted with pics on your progress :pcorn:

Like these guys said it isn’t too big of a job. Of course, just looking at the photos it is hard to say exactly what the extent of the damage is. There is a definite possibility of the rad support being out. You should take it apart before ordering parts to determine exactly what you need, as there may be a few damaged items behind there.

Generally for the paint, the bumper cover is painted off, the fender can be edeged and painted on, or painted off. Most people would blend the colour into the door, then clear the whole door to allow for an undetectable repair.

As with anything, you get what you pay for, so shop around and ask lots of questions.

    Good luck

What he said, those mounting panels are trash, whenever I get a TrailBlazer with front end damage they are always broken to pieces.
