Pressure should be just slightly positive. I would think 0.01 to 0.05 would be ok.

What does your control panel look like on yours? We had 2 spraybakes at a shop I use to work at, the pressure wasn’t adjustable on ours…

You’re from the UK aren’t you reidy? In which case regulations say you have to run it at a slight negative pressure to keep the harmful fumes from escaping. Our booth even shuts down automatically if it strays into positive pressure for too long!

As Ben says though, slightly positive is a much better idea and I think that’s how most US booths run, but since the regulations here don’t allow it 0 is about the best you can do 😉

I understand the point for voc emissions, but if your booth is decently sealed, then it really shouldn’t make a difference. That’s just plain stupid :wak

I wonder if that is why on the spraybake booths we had, it was non-adjustable?

Who said rules & regs had to make sense 😆

Some years ago I worked in a Spraybake and that wasn’t adjustable either. It was bought second hand, and when they came to fit it we were told it had to be “upgraded” to include a pressure gauge, even though there was no form of adjustment if the pressure was wrong

Hi. Thanks for replys. Havent got any pics of control panel but guy who installed it said it is adjustable, he suggested leavin it at 0. Control panel has 2 small controllers on top left corner one for spray temp and one for bake temp, then it has red emergency stop button on right top corner, below it is booth pressure gauge, and bottom left is small digital screen with buttons below to control bake, spray, burner, lights etc-

Actually due to EPA rules here in the states, we also are mandated to run slight negative pressure. The days of nice clean jobs and a slight positive pressure are over….

There’s always an adjustment, just let the filters plug up well, you’ll be running positive in no time. :dnc

could yous guys clarify booth pressure for me? is positive presure when there is more going in than going out? and negative will be the opposite?

    Yep, that’s it.

The differences are only small, but that’s the basic rule. Positive pressure will tend to blow out of any slight leaks in your booth, negative will tend to suck in (bringing the dust in with it!)
