Ok, I know I’m getting into a super ghetto area here- but I’m curious. In the past I have used Rustoleum bucket paint thinned with acetone to spray stuff like patio furniture and other random things. The results were sufficient for the cost, and the items didn’t need to be perfect. My question is would it be possible to clear something painted with rustoleum enamel with a urethane clear? Would it stick? I’m assuming it couldn’t be wet on wet if it possible. But if it was a solid color and if I sprayed it, let it dry, and sanded with 800, would the clear stick properly? My grandpa wants me to paint his riding lawn mower, but doesn’t wanna spend any money. I have some clear laying around and if it is compatible would go ahead and clear the cheap job. Might as well give it some better shine/durability if possible. I think it will be a fun project to see how nice looking of a result I can end up with. I don’t see any reason it won’t look great as long as I wetsand the base flat before clearing. I just concerned it wont be compatible.
