    Ok, I have a stupid question…

For those of you that have seen the show Car Warriors, I am sure you know that they butcher these things in that short time. I am also sure you’ve noticed all the paint problems they have and all the orange peel.

The thing that gets me about the orange peel, is why? It looks like every car that comes out of there is peely. Are they just not very skilled, or is that HOK clear a real bitch? I know they are rushing these, and to some people these may me new products…but even still, why can’t even just 1 team get the product to lay flat?

It is stupid, but it still bothers me

The black and green Fox looked slick but the other didnt. I have to laugh at the show “Desert Car Kings” when the restore the cars for auction and when they put them outside the swirls in the clear from compounding look awful :lol1

ya the black and green car turned out nice, minus the hatch that they rushed painting

IMO it just proves that the “show car guys” don’t even try for the best “off the gun” finish, they all cut and buff there jobs.I would rather have a slick finish with a nib or too vs swirls and sand scratches that you are forever chasing. :pcorn:

HoK clears are super easy to spray and lay flat or flater than anything else. They range from 30% to 41% solids. They can have really long recoat windows 30 to 45 min with the 151 hardner at nominal temp(78°).Like every thing else its the painter. Red Baron should chime in he used to work for Hok.

I used to work with guy that had the motto – “always rely on your buff”. There are plenty of them out there :wak

Another thing I always wonder when watching these kind of shows is how do the cars look a few months down the line? They have so much product thrown on them in such a short space of time, it’s got to be a recipe for some world class shrinkage…

i bet their paint jobs could come out a little better if they just wore paint suits.

I’d say product has little tO do here, there’s are so many variables.

    1) by the time they get to painting, they’ve likely pulled at least one allnighter.

    2) they’re in an unfamiliar environment, using someone elses equipment.

Now add in the pressure of getting it completed in time.
