    I have been buying primer like crazy lately and it’s really taking a chunk out of the profit. What primer do you guys like that I can get at a good price.

    Its alll priced high… for cheap primer we have used on some race cars and things that dont matter is transtar… pretty good build but I have no clue how long it will hold up…I have put there clears on alot of used cars and it did just fine…

    Looks like a perfect segue for SPI: http://www.southernpolyurethanes.com/Pricing%20Info.htm

    Look at the reg. 2k primer. About $90 for the kit.

    in my opinion, Mar-hyde ultimate 2k primer is some pretty good stuff and doesnt shrink as bad as the other primers. it also dries fast and sands super easy. it sells between 65-80 a set up. its extremely thick so you’ll end up reducing it about 10-20% or using a 2.0 tip to spray it as is.

    Marhyde Ultimate 2K isn’t bad but not quite ultimate. Used lots of it before.
    The build is good but doesn’t sand very well. And the batches are inconsistant;
    sometimes very lumpy. Go with the SPI 2K regular build, it’s much better
    in every way that matters. It’s inexpensive, consistant, low or no shrinkage,
    very easy sanding/blending and easy to shoot.

    Yes, another shameless SPI plug….

    Add a third vote for Mar-Hyde Ultimate 2K. Buff color is super easy to sand, and build is excellent. Dries fast, and holdout is right up there. I get a kit of primer + act for about $75 when I buy it by the case.

    I’ve been told that they grey is harder to sand, and is costlier too. Go figure.

    at one time or another i have used every spi primer made and they are all really good and reasonable.

    My buddies are all yakkin how good the Montana primers are. Good price and great quality. I hear it almost every time I talk to them.

    The SPI guys are good folks too. So I hear, but I have no experience with the primers myself. I know of SPI through a different forum. Never heard anything negative.

    I think if you got large amout of bondo work or the 1 prime on restro work,you can’t go wrong with feartherfill,then use the price line K2 primers if you want less shrinkage problems,thats my 2 cents :whistle:

    I have been using the Kustom Shops POLYESTER PRIMER SURFACER from TCGlobal. I get it for $54.00.

    I have a Car Quest in town that sell sells good primer also for about the same cost.
