hi i use max meyer aquamax base coat and i use max meyer 0300 clear coat. im looking for a cheaper alternative to the 0300 but has to hold its gloss over water base paint. i was using 0200 for years and after 24 hours after baking the clear would always lose its gloss. i emailed ppg and they told me its was because 0200 was not for water base and thats why i started using 0300 but its expensive. does anyone know of any other clears that hold up well over water based paint?
thanksWho Supply’s you Max ??
I use max meyer waterbase also use 0300 clear, we get our max meyer from Brown Brothers, they have a good budget clear coat called ” quickline”
Quickline sits on the waterbase very nicely, having said that i have been told it is very similar to 0200
We thin it at 2 to 1 no thinner, if you add thinner you will see a drop in gloss
quickline is a very good product for the price
Only Brown Brothers can supply quickline, it is there own clearcoat.
August 13, 2014 at 9:56 pm #47204The 0300 is from amo products not sure what the website is called. £75 for the kit. I’m sure I’ve tried quickline. I think it said on the data sheet that it’s not for water base paint. I’ve ordered this yesterday http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171419338348?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I’ve tried some of the primers and panel wipe they have and they are good quality. They have said the clear will not lose gloss over water base. Time will tell.
