I would use Nason 465 before I would ever use Rubber Seal. If your jobber has Spies do they get Nason?

If so use Spies reducer in it instead of the Nason reducer, which is crap.

What I have used that I likes was Acme FC720, U-tech 4.0 select, and the Nason 465.
yea i was just told by my jobber that they have that nason clear and it might fall under warrentee due to being in the same “family” i just had to voice my opinion of a product that i feel is garbadge and should be avoided if you can, the first time i used rubberseal i got a “bad batch” i was told, the clear went on with billions of fish eyes, aparently the people that they get there cans from did not wash them properly before the clear was added to the can, so fist use gave me a bad taste in my mouth, and they didnt make up for it in any way so i had 2 redos that day due to rubberseal, and mind you im painting up to 9 cars a day at the time of this incendent, thank you rubberseal!!!!
All by your self in an 8 hour day you can shoot 9 cars???…AWESOME!!!

I can paint 9 cars a day 😡 with 9 paint booths and nine painters :p :silly:

with 2 booths and a good prepper 9 cars isnt unreasonable

    November 23, 2010 at 6:40 pm #25488

I dont think so either. Got to remember in crash painting 1 car may just be a bumper or fender and door. 9 all overs a day would suck :stoned

Sorry to get your panties in a bunch there Timbo. I was responding to Stone
But since you brought it up, you’re correct. He did say I.
He said I was painting up to 9 cars a day. Which if he was in the booth with the gun pulling the trigger, I would be the proper statement. I dont recall him saying he sanded, washed, wiped down, taped and painted 9 cars a day. He just said he painted them. :deadhorse :deadhorse :deadhorse
But you’re right. No big deal.. Nevermind :stoned

yea i got a future cure truck booth, i paint 2 cars at a time if im painting the car together or if i paint the apart i have gotten up to 6 cars at a time going, i did 7 today, had a kid mixing my paint after i picked the var. and had him washing guns as i was done with them, i do mostly all my own masking,i wipe them down, i do sand some of what i paint not all, but when i mask i dont use paper at all i got some tricks i use and my ave. is about 6 cars a day, but have gotten 9 done in a day quite a few times, and hope to beat that, wish i was getting flat rate on those days i could take the rest of the week off, i do everything right i just move man lol i asked one of the guys who has worked there for a while he told me last painter was getting about 4 done a day, why how much you guys painting a day? i figured i was doing about the amount most people got done a day:blink:

    November 24, 2010 at 5:37 am #25510

flat rate would definitely be the ticket…more power to ya doc!

i mostly do completes, and just 1 takes me well over 12 hours to get it out of the booth because my booth isnt heated. plus i do all the work alone :wak but in extreme cases ive gotten 2 done in 1 day.

Sounds like your kicking *** there. If your hustling you are about right. I paint 2-4 on avg a day. If I am doing bumpers or parts off the car I would say 6 wouldn’t be bad. Some days it seem 2 is a chore. Really depends on the job. I have worked at shops where I ran two booths and all I did was mix paint, wipe down and spray. I could push 12 if I had to. Things had to be clicking though.

How are you masking jambs if you dont use paper?

When I have help I can do about 8-10 jobs when I have 2 booths, water has slowed us down a bit. Most times I average 3-5 but I do all my own masking and prepping of my blend panels, blowing tacking, mixing, gun cleaning, booth maintenece etc.We have 2 booths and another painter,so I only have one booth to use and sometimes out in the shop. The other painter I work with is blindingly fast,I have never seen anyone faster,I am too picky and it slows me down somedays.I have sprayed 4 completes in one day, that is my record and man was I tired

    November 24, 2010 at 6:17 am #25515

I put out 2-3 a day normally, thats taping, masking, painting, mixing, cleaning, sometimes prepping etc. If we had a bake cycle I’d be able to kick out 3-4 pretty easy I’m sure

    November 24, 2010 at 7:10 am #25516

I manage to do 1 or 2…a month.

But hey, I’m just a lowly bodyman. When I fill in I can get about 2-3 done in a day (priming, prepping, masking painting etc.). Hard to get in the groove when you are using someone else’s space.

When I was painting at the last shop I could do about 4-6 a day with a little help and a lot of accelerator (no heat in the booth).
