going to get the paint mixed tommor for a blend in back door and front bumper …put the sun gun on it tonight before i left and it looked very metallicy so just though i would ask if it had and xirralics or any special tinters in it !
thanks
January 28, 2011 at 12:55 am #27727There’s nothing out of the ordinary in it Tommy, just a couple of ‘regular’ pearls/micas.
Certainly no expensive Xyrillics 😉

The sun guns really seem to pick up the glitter in black , i notice in particular on the opel black, code 20r you can hardly see the red mica in it ,
Put the sun gun on and wow the red pops right up at you.
I’ve painted my bumper the same color before, used R-M Diamont BC and Sata HVLP 1.3. Worked great.
The metallics are only visible under bright light. Otherwise it looks like jet black.I’m just a hobbyist.

Did you just spray it in that garage on the tool cart? Man that looks great for it not being in the booth…

As an aside Nick, have you noticed there are two very distinct shades of 20R about?
I paint at least 10 in this colour a week, and some are very much redder than others. Put two cars side by side under the same lighting, and you’d swear they were different colours (and I’m talking similar model years).
