Hi I am new to this site and to Auto Body in general. The reason I joined is I have a car that I need to repair and do not want to spend a whole hell of a lot getting it back to its former glory.
Here is my deal, I do not plan on doing this part of the job myself, I am going to hire a pro but I have a line on a free quater panel but I have to go and remove it and spending 300-1000 for a used quater seems like a bad invensment when I can get it for free.
I have a 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo SS and I need the drivers quater.
Can someone please give me detailed instructions on how to remove this piece please. Bear in mind, I am a total newbie when it comes to this kind of work and there for I do not have all the tools you guys have. I just have a sawzall to cut it off. From what I was told, there is no glass in the car so that part should not be an issue.
Go to youtube and watch some videos. Here is some. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=quarter+panel+replacement&oq=quarter+panel&gs_l=youtube.1.0.0l10.1393.4491.0.8380.13.10.0.3.3.0.153.1185.2j8.10.0…0.0…1ac.1.11.youtube.yYiLVOq3psA
August 15, 2013 at 2:30 am #44073I don’t know what kind of equipment/tools you have but my advice is take as much and as big a bit as u can there is nothing as annoying as the customer landing with too small a piece or it half destroyed :headsmack: :deadhorse so what I advise in this situation without seeing it etc is cut up the boot/trunk floor along the inner arch or where ever is easier down in around the seat base etc is your sill panel damaged take as much of that too if u can then go as far up the post as u can or even take the corner off the roof if u can get away with it lol.
This way whoever is fitting it again has all the options to cut and join where ever they decide best better to much as you can always trim it back not so easy to add on what’s not there thou :pcorn:- AuthorPosts
