I know, it’s just ironic there’s another cts project thread going.
    I’ve wanted a cts-v for a while now, so here it is. 2012 cts-v with 8800 miles.

here’s some updated pics. By the way, I want to know who the guy is who is responsible for squirting the expanding foam in these cars. I want to personally put the nozzle down his throat and watch his head expload

Looks good so far. Are you splicing the back end in the way it is sitting behind the car…then Welding on the skins?

I look forward to more pics

Well, the chassis rails are actually welded in as extensions, they have a split with like 8 spot welds in the perfect spot for me. Plus, the rails have a self centering cone on them that slide in to the subframe – makes changing the rail very simple, so basically I’m changing the both chassis rails. I also took the outer wheel house from the black clip and am putting it on my car – left side only, my right is perfect.

Once the two rails and left outer wheel house are all welded up and refinished (probably today), I’m going to slide the complete outer skins on to the car one shot. Two quarter panels, left side rocker outer cover, floor, rear body, and part of the upper deck that goes under the rear windshield.

looking good! i would have approached this the same way. dont forget to test fit the outer before you final weld the inner. if the inner is off by just a bit everything will get thrown off.

more updates. Wheel well welded and refinished. Post prepared for new skin. Inside of new clip all cleaned and refinished(no pic of that). Chassis rails welded.

Looks good, you have made lots of progress in a short time.

    February 2, 2013 at 3:42 am #40935

Now this is more like it. I really like these kind of jobs where its a little challenge aside from the normal prep, mask and spray , kinda keeps it interesting. Looks like your doing a good job from here, keep the pics comming.
