against my better judgment I used my CVi to clear some tractor trailer parts and a toyota tailgate
actually didnt come out too bad. These things are deceiving and used a lot of paint

July 31, 2010 at 5:36 am #23427ya nex i’ll sand that out.
The tailgate is straight black. the fenders are actually a pearl blackJuly 31, 2010 at 7:14 am #23428Those CVIs are hosers! I bust mine out every once in a while for parts cut in. I had to quit using it for clear because I would run the crap out of everything I did! It just doesnt fit my spraying style.
July 31, 2010 at 7:32 am #23429Sh!t happens 😛 I never really cared for the cvi for clear,it just doesn’t atomize as well as an Rp,the fan is narrower too. Those are rear fenders for a peterbuilt, those are bigger than they look,I’ve sprayed a few of those in my day…hopefully ya didn’t have to use Imron 😛 Looks good dinger 😉
Yep, I agree.
The CVI doesn’t put down a nice hard pattern, the pattern is a little too small, and a little too speckley surrounding the pattern. (Little too heavy in the center, doesn’t atomize very well on the outside edges.)
I wasn’t too impressed with the HVLP cap on Base, And although with the Tech cap on clear it seemed to put down a lot more material than my iwata’s the pattern is so small that you have to move so fast you can’t really judge the settling of the product. Which made running it easy for me.
I found that giving a little less overlap helped me considerably. It’s just such a heavy yet small pattern. All in all, not a bad clear gun, definitely works. And you can get an awesome job out of it.
But not one of my favorites. It does lay sealers real nice though. 😉
July 31, 2010 at 2:45 pm #23432I’m not a big fan of the CVI for clear also. To get a nice job out of it I had to dial in the material way too much. The gun sprayed Cromax Pro very well. Other than that I find it useless.
I think you ought to charge the customer a little extra since they will have better UV protection in that area! 😉
