Hello everyone, I was looking for some help and opinions on disposable cup systems, as I’m thinking about switching over from the pots and devilbiss bag liners and the mixing cups , I think it would save me time, although idk about the money, as all systems seem to be kinda pricey . I got a sample kit of the dekups to try out later this week , but I dislike that it doesn’t have the ratios on the cup opposed to the new Devilbiss Gunner cup or the Sata RPS. Which do you guys use and like. Another question I have is do you guys use them from sealer through clear or just base?
Thanks
I used to use the 3M PPS cups, they wre good. But storing paint was a little awkward, and when the outter cup got old and dirty it wasn’t fun. I am using the SATA RPS cups now. They are very user friendly. Only complaint is that the lid can be easy to screw on a little off when in a hurry and not paying attention. Clicking the vent open/ closed takes a few weeks to get in the habit of remembering…
I use them for everything…I don’t own any cups for my guns. I wash out my clear ones and reuse them for primer and occasionally jambing (with a new lid and filter).

Yes they are easy to use, I got a trial when I got my 4000 and liked them a lot but I think they are one of the most expensive ones . But I had the same problems with clicking the tab close . Spilling come clear :rofl
I am currently using the old style Norton liners until my jobber runs out, probably the cheapest liner system out there, they have been changed due to the fact that they are very similar to the 3M pps ststem (Legal issues). They are now updated but am hearing about issues with the new design. I use them for base only.

What kind of issues are you hearingFebruary 21, 2013 at 2:46 am #41527I love my 3m cups. I used Devilbiss bags for a couple years, and they just are nowhere as clean. Good enough for primer and glue, which is what I mainly used them for.

What kind of issues are you hearing[/qmy jobber was notified by Norton that there was an issue with suction and paint flow. Probably more of a waterborne issue.

Do you have a scale to weigh out your paint/clear? That way you don’t have to worry about scales on the sides of the cups.February 21, 2013 at 8:22 am #41545

Hello everyone, I was looking for some help and opinions on disposable cup systems, as I’m thinking about switching over from the pots and devilbiss bag liners and the mixing cups , I think it would save me time, although idk about the money, as all systems seem to be kinda pricey . I use 3M pps and i wash them out and use them again for primer or inside colour. Once you start paying for them. you soon realise that yes they are quick but there also exspensive. if your shop used 2 boxes every week and you washed them out quickly and used them again for primer you can save thousands a year.
example: our price for 2 box’s is $252 so times that by 50 working weeks = $12,600 now if you washed out just half of the cups and used them 2 or 3 times. it can save you an eye opening amount of money and there not a pain to clean either.
February 23, 2013 at 4:55 pm #41588Just a silly question. I use disposable cups because i am lazy. If you wash the liners out and reuse them, why not save the money and just mix your products in plastic mixing cups and wash those out instead?
i like the pps system its simple to use and i hate plastic pots and cups. not keen on double handling the paint as im a mess maker. only time i use plastic cups is making up larger amounts then 650mls. the pps cups wash out really easily to. only wash out the clear and sealer ones. basecoat cups go in the bin they take to long to clean.
Ive been using the 3m pps cups for a while now, ocasionally I will wash one out or if I have clear that hasnt hardened in the liner ill re use the liner if its still in good order. Rps cups took some getting used to, they breathe better than the pps cups, I definitly f’d up a couple times forgetting to pop that cap on the top to mix more paint, or pop it up before spraying. 😛 I believe the Rps are pricier than the Pps cups…
