How does everyone else find this forum? It seems the makers no longer support it so I’m not every really gonna get any updates to speed it up & such. What does everyone else think? Would you prefer a different looking, fast forum or are we happy with this one?

Works fine right now Jimmo.. What we need is more traffic, new guys signing up and posting asking questions.. We also need our members to start threads.. It takes allot to get a forum off the ground and to get the traffic like you see at 101.. Allot of networking went into that site..

I do like the setup of your site. I would say that since there are not that many posts each day that you don’t really need so many categories, it makes it seem like there are even less posts then there are if you are just browsing. If there where a lot of posts then all the different categories would be nice though.

I really like the shout box but I think that it really, really cuts down on the amount of posts that are put up……………………………..

I think that you need more beginners on the site posting, on here now there are mostly pros, over at AB101 there are always new guys asking the same questions over and over and over, it gets kind of dull but it is interesting at the same time. One of the troubles here is that most of the guys already know what they are doing:angry:

One more thing, when I am using Firefox I can not get the the second page of a thread, I can only view the first page and the second page is not a link that I can click on. It works fine on Internet Explorer.

With time the site will get busier, and we all need to post more:)

Faster would be nice… But the unconventional format feels a bit odd (i.e., user info., on right)… And main page doesn’t load up correctly for me at least.
Need to be able to post larger pic too!!

    Here’s a snap shot:

I kinda liked the most recent setup you had going. its diff than the other forums but it kinda feels like home.;)
all the forums have been a little slow lately. you need newbies to keep the post count up asking if their 1/2 hp compressor is enough to paint an entire car.
it’ll take time to build up. been less than a year. lots of vistors come check. just need to get them to sign up

Thanks for the input guys, any advice is appreciated.. I’ll look into why its displaying that way Han, What version of firefox are you using? also are you running a wide screen monitor?

I’ve heard that suggested to Alex, maybe I’ll see if I can prune the categories a bit more.

I was just messing around a bit ding, restored the old layout for ya. I like it that way to, all the info ya need on the first page for the most part.

I’ve been putting off that image size problem to, I’ll have to get that fixed …hopefully within the next few days. I also want to incorporate a small login windows somewhere in the top of the page, Visible when your in the forum. The other thing I want to do is bring the shoutbox (& who’s online) up to the top and just make the menu at the top a drop down menu with all the options in it.

But I guess I just need to giver some more time, I’m very Impatient!

    I’m using the latest FireFox.

I keep getting e-mail notifications for thread posts. How/where do i turn this off?

Here at the shop, i’m using IE and the main page loads very funny. I think it may
have to do with the paragraph justification (centered).

I have it set to subscribe to email notifications by default, maybe I should turn it off. I know 101 sets it to off automatically, autobodystore & autobodyonline both have it on lilke here. I prefer it personally, especially if I don’t check the site that often. What you can do is when you reply to a post, make sure the subscribe box is unchecked. To stop them now, go to the bottom of the thread your getting emails about and click the red button “unsubscribe”.

Let me sit on that a few days, does this bug others too?? Would it be better to have it off by default and check it if you want the emails?

Also I am aware of the IE errors.. IE7 should be fine, older IE versions such as 6 it will display very, very poorly (mostly just the main page). I’m trying to find a way to fix that too, I was playing with it a bit today with limited success. Designing a site around IE6 can be difficult, I know many pro designers complain about it too. I’d like to figure something out their..

I check this forum often so email notifications aren’t needed. And it’s just too many for each every reply (redundant).
The “Latest Post” section on the right is also a bit redunant. How about bring up only latest post for each thread?

Jimmo, I think you have something good here. And i like that it’s geared more towards guys like us. But this forum
is not newbie friendly. How about a “welcome/intro” on the main page (not in columns)?

Sorry to be nit picky but i was a graphic designer and built a few sites in the mid 90’s. And worked in colaboration
with a few others about 6 years ago (commercial and informational sites). Aside from looking good, efficiency is
always a priority. “Simplicity” works better at attracting viewers than something “flashy”. Ebay, Google, Craigslist are
incredibly simple. Autobody101 and the like aren’t “good looking” but is direct and highly efficient… OK, enough of
    that.

Passing thoughts as primer dries… 🙂

Thanks for the input han, I’ll take off the default subscribe option…….

If I can find a way to change that to latest post from each thread I will, that’s a good idea…. Most of this site is built without having to manually code anything, so alot of “modules” their called don’t always give you the options you want. I have a bit of PHP coding experience but its sooo time consuming to modify, hopefully I can find an easy way to get it done.

I like that idea of a welcome page to, the main page is a bit loud & full of a lot of filler…nothing incredibly useful I find.

Thanks again Han, if you come up with anything while waiting for your clear to dry let me know.

I’ve changed the board so that in the future you won’t automatically receive emails regarding reply’s to a thread you’ve posted in. This is only for future posts, any thread your currently subscribed to you’ll need to click the unsubscribe button at the bottom.
