Keep getting younger guys coming into the shop asking for complete paint jobs.
When I give them a quote, they start comparing it with a plasti dip job. And ask me if I can match that.
Gets a bit boring after a while!

The way i look at it is whats gonna last longer and look nice. I would rather get a paint job over shity ass plasti dip or wraps any day haha, but thats just me these kids / guys now a day are different and cheep but u always get wat u pay for.
well i dont get that exactly. i have worked myself out of doing stuff for that kind of customer….most of the time. its taken a long time. i do however still get the occasional person that squeezes through the cracks and no matter what i will be too expensive but that is how i filter out the riff raff. there is a shop about 1/2 hour from me the does the dirt cheap crappy work. let him deal with all those people. he will always be dealing with those people because of the kind of work he chooses to do.
Yeah, I get the odd one or two. Not really what we do but I generally quote $10,000 including minor repairs for same colour, $15,000 for a different colour and $25-30K for any kind of custom work. Sorts them out pretty quick. 😉
Or, for the flat black requests, I refer them to the vinyl wrap guys who’ll do a whole car for about $3,500.
Ask them if the guys next door offer a warranty, because any professional will. We offer a limited lifetime warranty on our jobs but it doesn’t come cheap, materials for our last complete came in somewhere around 2k. Let them go and get the cheap job and from my experience they will be back with there tail between their legs wishing they would have come to you first, because they will end up paying double in the end. Stick to your guns , do good work and charge for it
i get asked regularly.
” i want a full respray” my reply is very few people get them these days due to the cost.
Then they point out about half a dozen bits on the car and say “just as well to respray the whole car”.
Then i just give them a prices somewhere around 2.5k- 3k is enough to quieten them, and end up get the half dozen bits done and not a complete.
