I’m not supporting or against DRP with this post, just for informational purposes. What do you think the deciding factor is for an insurance company to add your shop to their DRP list? Greasing the right adjuster, quality workmanship/reputation….etc….
May 27, 2008 at 10:49 pm #10407We have 4 as of right now 2 are no qustions asked fix it and bill us 2 are pretty much a few times a year . we don’t give any discounts or labor concessions to any of them either they pay door rates or they can take us off the program.but back on subject I have never seen an agreement from any of them demanding anything other than pic size or headers on the estimate like assn date in out whatever. I think in most areas there are too many shops and thats when they start asking for concession because so and so down the street is willing to loose money and make it up in volume:laugh: .Luckily there are only three shops in my county. It comes down to a business decision.most contracts are basically survey sheets what you charge and either they agree or they don’t.The only one i ever had any problems from was selective.
AnonymousMay 28, 2008 at 8:18 pm #10425I can remember over the years (we been here 44 years)scrounging for work or selling our selves short , and you bet kissin some cartel ass. My brother used to bitch and say “we’re losing money” and I would say “no just not makin as much as we could”.
Today things are better , and the shoe is on the other foot.
Customer wants us and only us. Cartel knows our rep and trusts us also (we’re not out to ripe no one), when your in it for the long haul you will do what ever it takes. Believe me , you want to stay alive , you will one day cut some throats. sad but true 🙁 B)but I refuse to compromise quality for time or money. B)

They say that getting on the list depends on certain criteria but I find ,and you probably do to,that there are shops out there who are drp and do sub par work and have less that adequate facilities. I still feel it all boils down to familiarity with the adjusters and appraisers and how you have dealt with them and being straight up with them.If you do quality work and turn around times are good you will have your share of the business anyhow.Educating the customers to the fact that they don’t have to got to shop A or B and that it is their choice is the hard part as most don’t want to piss off their insurance brokers for fear of higher rates. Somedays its like having sharp objects stuck in your eyes but thats how the game is played.
