Hey guys, we have been trying some DuPont clear at the shop I work at. We use sher will awx and atx and with the DuPont 8700 clear which is the premier clear we are gaving an issue with it, when we go to denib it we use 1500, 3000, and 5000 trizac pads then use the 3m 3 step system. And after it’s polished it looks great but as soon as it’s sat out in the hot sun all the wet sanding marks come back, it’s basically looks like we just wet sanded it and never even polished it. Does anyone know what’s happening here, it seems to happen on every job, whether it’s painted the day before or 3-4 days before. We had the same problem with the sher will 757 clear, our booth only gets up to about 120-130 surface temp if this helps
Usually when this happens we can just pull the car back in and ultrafina it with the blue pad and it’s goes away
Thanks for any info on this
I’ve seen scratches come back but it was because the oils in the compounds and polishes were basically filling the scratch. I try to use a 50% isopropyl alcohol 50% water mix and wipe the panel down after each section. It should remove the oils. I use some powerful halogen lights as well so I can see what’s going on.
I have been meaning to post about this, Standox Pfc30 is also terible for this, I have also herd sickens (new low voc??) and sherwins(???) It seems like it is the new voc clears that are doing it, I find if you sand 1500, 3000, (TRIZAC) 5000 (TRIZAC) Then leave it sanded for a couple of hours before you buff it is better but It still can happen, almost imposible to buff a dark color IMO. And a real pain in the A$$ :exci
