Do you guys find durablocks to be a good quality tool? I have the set and went to use one of the longer ones and it had a bodacious bend in the middle that pushing wouldn’t straighten. I thought my bodywork was off until I put a straight edge to the panel and the repair was good.

What kind of blocks, sizes do you guys prefer?

Doesn’t really matter to me, as long as there straight. I prefer the wooden ones to plastic as they don’t warp over time but i usually just get my 3M rep to replace mine once a year. The small rubber ones you need to be careful with, sometimes you will get really warped ones (especially the cheapy’s). Once I had a rubber block with a big bulge in the middle, wrecked a job before I figured out the problem.

i think their scruff pad (the 3/4″ thick one) and the odd shaped ones are great. for their flat blocks, forget it. i think they are crap. you can block anything flat with those. 3m makes the best blocks and sanding boards imo.

My current boss here swears by these thin pieces of balsa wood. I thought it was one of the hokiest things I had ever seen until I tried it out on blockin primer, everything thus far straightens out as good as can be. I really stand by dura blocks but I gotta say it is kinda nice pushin that much less weight of balsa wood around.

I like the dura blocks for some stuff, i also like the old school wooden handle aluminum plate blocks sometimes. My favorite block is the holy terror by motorgaurd which i use on every dent at some point and use only it on smaller repairs 4hrs or less.

I’m with you on the Holy Terror blocks. I’ve been using them forever on small dents/dings and they stay straight for years.
