Been awhile since I worked on a bare-metaled body, had it glass blasted and I want to seal it up,I used to use DP-90(old version)and had great results, any suggestions on a comparible product that is availible in Canada?

i haven’t been able to see the long term results yet but akzo apparently dropped their etch primers and have gone to the pretreatment wipes for all bare metal etching. seems pretty nice although i can see how spraying might be easier in many cases especially in tight or where there are lots of stampings in metal. if not though, there is still PPG DP although I think you can get it in a low voc formula now.

I really don’t trust the wipes on a complete(and I spray Sikkens daily @ work),I always found a good epoxy primer had good bite over a properly prepared substrate.

PPG dp50LV is pretty good as is a low voc primer from sikkens(forget the name right now :headsmack: ) You could also into sikkens BTLV system for some good epoxy, dupont corlar 921S in the imron system is also very good,2:1 mix and 30 min flash.

You could also look at the utech line of epoxy primers. I am not sure what they have avail to you in Canada though. I have liked everything I have used in their line, and it’s normally priced right.

if you can get valspar products, i use their cps epoxy primer and its good, tint to any color u desire. a little on the slow side to dry but that’s typical of epoxy’s

PPG Delfleet Essential has a good low VOC Epoxy, Its an enhanced version of the CRE series epoxies. It “shells up” quickly and gets very hard.
