^^^ Exactly why I thought you guys would find the ordeal relevant. If it happens in life, it has to happen in business.

Lucky for me, my job that pays the bills couldn’t be further removed from paint and body. My frustration with projects that take this sort of turn is more about the added time that it will take to do all the extra = unplanned things than the money lost from pushing other projects back.

I don’t like telling someone that I’ll work on something then be weeks late starting on it because someone else deemed their project more important.

Seems its always the same story with these people, “I’m not in any hurry, do it whenever you get some free time, work on someone else stuff first if you need to”, yet they check on your progress a minimum of 7 times a week?

I’m so used to the routine that it really doesn’t phase me anymore, :lol1

My buddy was just here today asking about his bug! Basically the same line there. He calls, or comes in
once or several times a week.

Yeah, I was planning on finishing my booth before I did any more work, but I’d rather get this tractor done so I can have a day in peace without having this guy show up while I’m eating dinner everyday….. Oh, I hate to bother you,,, but.,,,,, B)

I hate the “I’m in no hurry, but I am going to check in 10 times a day” customers. 👿 👿 :wak :wak :chair

ya, my customer for the mustang is like that. He got a cerbia price and told me to take as long as i want, stops up a few times a week to check progress and do the old “well while your at it” :S then says no hurry again . Even stopped up there yesterday and knew i was on vacation

That behavior sure seems to come with the territory when working on peoples toys. :exci

Well im about a month into this project and have yet to spray anything with the “Free” red paint he brought me to start with.

Got all the flint gray and silver parts done to the best of my knowledge,,,, odds are he’ll show up with another batch that he forgot. Seems everyday that goes by another piece gets added to the pile. Grill and wheels are a different color than the chassis as per the owners instructions,,,, damned if can see much difference besides the coarsness of the flake.

Painted the chassis at his place, using his 3hp 26 gallon compressor, rigged to one of my water separators and air hose, outside under a carport no less.

that looks nice ya sure that grill aint spose ta be red??? :lol1

    September 6, 2009 at 6:57 am #15707

According to him the rear wheel hoops and grill are supposed to be “silver mist” while the rest of the chassis is supposed to be “flint gray met.”

I can’t find a code for silver mist and he couldn’t provide me with one, so he picked a ford silver that he says was close. :wak

He also says that the flint gray met. that he gave me the code for is too light,,, more like the 135’s would be,,, says they had a dark version and a light version,,, :lol1

I’ve seen that guy at least once a day for over a month,,, 2-3 times per day on the weekend.

Going to be a nice Tractor when he’s done.

Has he agreed he owes you a bit more now?

    September 6, 2009 at 7:29 am #15709

:rofl Pretty sure he thinks I’m ripping him off, but he’s agreed to pay some more money,, not enough,,, but enough for us to still remain freinds and me not feel like I’m working for nothing.
