I notice you do your blend panels with the full color panels off the vehicle. Any reason for that? I always found it a little easier to blend with the full color panel on.

We do the same thing so you can paint inside the doors and outside all in one hit. So if i done that job would have the doors covered then start fading out on the blend panels. Just have to keep track of how many coats you apply.

It’s only because it was a new door so I had to paint inside and out, normally if its a repair then the door is put back on the car the blend

Thanks it’s so much easier to paint, only thing is when your trying to flow a nice coat of clear and the door starts to swing lol you can stop it with your hand any carry on 🙂

Next time you hang a door to paint straighten out a coat hanger and attach one end to the door and the other to the floor grate.
    No more swinging door.

Thanks for that 🙂 but 9 times out of 10 the door is hanging by the back as the car will be in the middle over the grate 😉 I’m used to it lol, I don’t like the idea of a coat hanger, I don’t think it will have the strength to hold a full door with inners in, cheers

He just means to use the coathanger to stop the door from swinging around, it doesn’t bear any real weight. If you’re worried about the wire gauge, you can get inexpensive rolls of wire of varying gauges from the hardware store.

    Hey Rikka, nice work.

What process are you using to paint new panels. I notice you have a new door hanging in the e-coat, then the next picture its painted. Are you painting them wet on wet primer, base then clear?

Hey mate thank you, the new door is etched, then a ultra sealer coat (wet on wet) then two three coats, also the blow aways aswel it had three coats due to the fine pearl in the base and wasn’t happy on how it was laying, the blow away panels have a base fix sealer sprayed on then as well to help
