We have a 2009 Tacoma in our shop. Blending door New fender and hood. What I did for the chip guard is acceptable, but I’m looking for a better result. I easy edged the chip guard from the door onto the fender. The prob is this. Toyota transition is about a inch and a half wide.how do I replicate this? Most people won’t ever look twice. But I will. I tried peeling back tape and aerosol chip guard to smooth transition.still doesn’t look like oe tho. Just looking to get closer to o e than I am now
I usually drape paper over area with a nice straight line, then fold it up leaving a soft edge. I usually use a SEM aerosol. A lot of the fade is in the angle and distance you’re spraying at. Use a few coats with appropriate flash times to get the build. Hope this helps. :cheers

Spray coats until you achieve desired texture letting it fade up to the foam tape. Then take 1 row off and spray another letting it go on up.Then after it dries maybe a little light sanding of the edge if it needs it. I’ve done it this way before with good results. :cheer:April 4, 2013 at 2:45 am #42578foam tape and the new 3m chip guard gun. It works awesome looks just like there primer gun.It has diposable packs of chip guard. easily fade the texture out to nothing.
