I have to repair an aftermarket fiberglass hood with scoop. The hood has a small piece missing around the front lip (almost as if a small bite was taken out of it) and hair line cracks around the scoop and sharp angles of the scoop. What is the best way to repair these areas. Should I use resin, resin and cloth, fiber hair, etc.

if neccesary you can also reinforce the bonnet with cloth on the inside of the bonnet.
Just make sure all is clean and there will be no problem.May 28, 2013 at 12:12 am #43304Use wide masking tape to form a mold, then use 3 layers of mat style cloth. Brush resin in each layer. Each layer will extend past the previous. Rough up the existing surface, 40-80 grit. Now you got something putty will stick to.

I have been using 3m rigid parts repair system lately, its a little slow but you can put some heat on it to speed it up. You can go to http://www.fibreglast.com and find their white pages and it will explain alot about repairs on fiberglass and composites and all that.
