I’ve got a guy I work with who cheesefiles his first coat of bondo & reapplys without sanding. I’ve told him thats not the right way. Anyone agree?

I did it twenty ago,,fixed many of my own vehicles and didn’t notice any problems. Stopped grating filler for many years because newer fillers just didn’t work out like the old ones. Started doing it again three years ago on large areas, but I sand it before applying more. Just makes better sense to me now.

should sand with at least 100 before reapplying

filler needs a tooth and files and graters don’t leave a good tooth

I use a surform grater to shape and see where lower areas etc are. I do this on bigger areas. Yes its a good idea to rough out your work.
