This was my first attempt using enviro-base
June 18, 2011 at 3:52 pm #31312
Last i checked it was a metallic..thats why it was called black magic in the previous post.. :woohoo:
Not just a metallic, but a pearl even 😆
So how was your first outing with water base? The job clearly turned out well, but how did you find it for application?
June 18, 2011 at 8:49 pm #31319I must admit I do love black. One medium coat and a control and you’re done. No really wet coats so it dries quick, and you can get on it with the clear in no time.
Something like that tailgate I’d be doing from tack rack to bake in 15 minutes. 10 if I was rushing…
like i said black is easy. :lol1
Yes black is easy..sometime will try a gold out..Picked a color that is never difficult in solvent either to get a hang of how the water base likes to be applied..Did this car with water as never have a chance of panel painting that color in the dbc. found a variant in the water chips that was a good match.. sprayed it and it was a good match like u have been saying seems to be better matches with the Enviro base even tho i am sure there are still colors that need to be tinted..
June 20, 2011 at 1:45 am #31347the only ones i need to tint are one’s that have been painted on from previous damage. but i don’t tint like before, now, i try to stay in the recomended varraints of a color, and if the prime matches but the mets. are a little off, and say a lighter varriant may have the right mets. i will mix the two to get the right match, done that 3 times, and if none of the varriants match i will find some thing in the same color deck that is close, done that 2. i’ve used it for nearly 2 yrs, and i rarely have to tint any thing. the shit seams to match so well. but at times i still use solvent on some cars that look like they’ve been painted in the back yard.
to be honest, i’ve only had to repaint 5 cars because of a bad color match in the last 2 yrs. the more you use the better you’ll like it.June 20, 2011 at 6:20 am #31351Metallics and tricoats apply fairly well in EHP. I’ve never really had any trouble with blends and I seldom put down a wet bed. some silvers I will drop a second control coat. It’s probably not necessarily needed each time but I like to think of it as insurance
