hey guys i’m just wondering how long you wait between coats of solvent basecoat? I’ve had very little experience with it, only one or two jobs. I spray waterbase all the time. i’m doing a complete with onmi base and i dont want to trap and any solvent. I have already got some slow reducer for it. any other tips you guys would give would be great. and how long before you clear. I’m using omni 262.

To be sure check your TDS for that particular product. To be safe I usually wait until it is matte and not shiny before I put on my next coat.If you are using a low voc solvent base give it more flash time before clear(usually 20 mins is ok with the old high test solvent in a production environment)When doing a complete I would wait about an hr for the best hold out and no dieback.

I’m a little late to the game here, but agree with Jayson.

Previously using solvent I would typically wait 5-10 minutes between coats of base and anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour or so before clear (depending on number of coats, solvent speed, temp, etc).

But always check the tech sheet to be sure!
