This is a generic question, not about a particular gun. I have been using a 1.3 fluid tip with my gun and it worked fine, lays clear like glass, but last week my son suggested to use a larger tip and I did change to 1.4, the clear (DuPont 496-00) came out a lot grainier than with the 1.3 tip using same air pressure. My question is: should I have raise the pressure do to larger tip? It seems to me that if the amount of material is increase so should be the air. Am I wrong? :wak 😛

I say stay with the 1.3 as long as you are pleased with the results and have good film build. Some of the clears I spray actually recommend a 1.2 or 1.3. Some folks do fine with a 1.4 but they may be putting on more clear than needed.
