Had my first real experiance with glosao this weekend. Painted a complete on a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee. Difficult enough task with a new paint line for the fisrt time. Used the 55line base and 923-450 clear. The base sprayed beautifuly. The silver layed out nice. no motteling at all. Didn’t have to do anything special. With my PPG I would have had to mix the last coat 50/50 with clear base to get the metallic to lay down evenly. Base drys quick. it was 68 in the booth and i was using the slow reducer. 10 minutes at the most before i could take some sand paper to it for any nibs.
The clear sprayed so easy. I’m used to having to work at laying out my PPG clears. This 450 clear flowed nice. I was able to spray it at a faster speed than I normally do while still getting a nice finish. The only drawback tothis clear is it will reflow on you when you bake it. another shop owner told me this and he was right. I let it flash for 10 minutes before baking at 150 for 25. before I baked it i did a walk around and only had a little buildup on some edges. after baking I had quite a few sags. Likely should have let it tack up a little longer I was using the slower reducer and was was cooler than I expected when spraying.
All in all I was very Impressed with this system
