I live in yucca valley, ca. just “one”, what do you bring to the table in experience for an answer like that, I have talked to a few people at car events and have asked them about Eastwoods stuff and they use a lot of there produts and have no bad things to say about it. What do you not like about there produts.
March 13, 2014 at 6:33 am #46079The guy is an automotive painter, that being said should be plenty to bring to the table.ALL of eastwoods products are rebranded(paint is kirker, bottom end of the spectrum no color match or longevity) that cost more than what can be bought local. If you want to use cheap paint go ahead but don’t expect great results or anything that will last.IMO if you are going to go to all that work to put on poor quality materials why bother.Go to your local jobber and talk to a knowledgeable paint person about what you need and he will set you up,when it comes to paint and body you get what you pay for.
March 13, 2014 at 4:36 pm #46083Those people at the car events commenting on Eastwood products were hobbiests. That’s who Eastwood targets. Collision and resto shops don’t buy supplies from them. Their paint is not high quality and their other supplies are overpriced and can be purchased cheaper elsewhere. This site in mainly comprised of professionals and shop owners who can provide quality advice about the industry.
Had those car event people used a higher quality product, their reviews would have been different. If you know where a product lies in the food chain, you expect it to perform as it does and use it on a job that requires it.I was looking for an answer from (Ahopkinson46) kinda though he would answer for him self guess I though wrong. Also didn’t think that the Eastwood products would get a bashing (bottom end/ cheap/ poor quality) like this. I wonder what ” Kirker ” would have to say to that. I my self would have used better words maybe like the paints are used for Hobbiest and a Professional would use other paints from a local auto paint store. I would have ” resected ” that comment a little better then your bashing opinion. I hope we are still friends here cause I do find these Opinions worth wild.
March 13, 2014 at 9:20 pm #46085You wont find too many people here that sugar coat things. Professional quality and hobby quality are 2 different things. To a professional, hobby quality is junk. Just the way it is. Probably wont find too many of us that care what eastwood or Kirker think about our opinions either.
March 14, 2014 at 5:24 am #46089If you have a real paint jobber local go there instead. The Eastwood is just middle of the road quality factory pack that isn’t priced significantly better than going through a jobber.
The Kirker / Eastwood epoxy isn’t terrible but not something I would go out of my way to buy though.
I’ve used some of Eastwood paint when I was first started going to college learning how to paint. Thinking that it would be the same as say PPG, BASF, Sikkens, Sherwin-Williams, and Valspar which were the paints that the local paint stores had in my area (Orange county and L.A County). The only reason why I used Eastwood paint cause I was a broke college kid. Once I got a job in a collision shops I started making more money, and my boss would allow me to come on Saturdays if we weren’t open and I would prep out Fender, hood, trunks, and bumpers to practice doing repair work and then paint them. There was a huge difference between the products that I used and Eastwood paint. Look you if you’re trying to paint you car for the first time Eastwood products might be the way to go for you. But the guys on her like me who are doing DRP accounts or Restorations we must use top of the line products because that work must last for a “Lift Time”.
