I’m a bit curious to hear how often others out there are breaking down the gun to clean it. I’ve always done it at the end of each job which would have been around 5-6 times per day with each gun used, I’m curious how I fit in with the norm here. How often do you tear your gun down to clean it thoroughly?

My primer and (waterbourne) base guns get broken down every time.

My sealer and clear guns I rinse well and run through the gun washer. I break them down every few weeks or sooner as needed. They don’t seem to get gunned up all that much.

I am the same way, after each use I break it down and give it a good cleaning. We have a waterborne gunwasher for the WB guns but use the thinner tank with a brush and squeeze bottle with fresh gunwash.Satas can take it some other guns aren’t as tough and you need to be careful.I am not a big fan of the guys who only clean them once a week cuz it takes too much time.I have timed myself and it takes about 90 secs to clean start to finish.

All of the above!!! I clean my guns every time they are used :agree it does not take that long to take it apart, but I wonder  how often do you clean the :cens cleaning station?

Every 2 :cens weeks 6 gallons of fresh thinner is changed out.The waterborne gun cleaner is ceaned once a week 😉

Yup, every time I finish with every application I break it down as well. One painter just squirts acetone through it and sprays it out, then he breaks them down at the end of the day. Different strokes for different folks

Run thinner through.
Remove air cap and a quick blast of Naked Gun from a spray can.
Blow dry with air.

Needle and nozzle come out once a month, maybe.
Guns are clean inside

Erm.. Mine only get fully stripped once a week, if that

Clear gun usually gets a good rinse out after every job, although sometimes I know I’ll be clearing again in less than 15 minutes if I have a few quick jobs lined up so I don’t bother, I’ll just leave the clear in it (in PPS cups).

Base gun gets treated even worse. I’m not proud of it but If I have a run of similar coloured cars I won’t even rinse it out between jobs, I’ll just swap the PPS cup and blow the new colour through for a few seconds  I’ve been known to go a full day doing that (say 10,12,14 jobs) and even line the cars up in order to facilitate it, starting with silvers early on then moving to greys then blacks as the day goes on. I will always give it good clean before spraying a non-metallic though, or use a different gun entirely.

Sorry! Feel free to flame me about it :chair
