I was painting jambs on my 67 Firebird tonight and noticed a little skip in the paint every once in a while. When I was cleaning the gun between sealer and base coat I looked down in the cup as I was spraying thinner through it and it was bubbling back into the cup. Every time the bubbling stopped it skipped a little in the spray fan.
What causes this?
This is a cheap gun that I have had for a while and it has painted very good in the past. It is a Vapor gun 1.4 tip, that I bought from the local paint supplier.
I know, and before you say you get what you pay for, it has painted two cars very nice to this point. So can someone out there help?
Thanks
EBDecember 5, 2012 at 7:33 am #39684or take the air cap off and try tightening the nozzle a little more. sometimes if they arent cranked down enough they will suck in air

December 6, 2012 at 7:10 am #39703Thanks to everyone for the feedback.
I found that the packing nut was loose and the air cap hole where a little clogged.
I tightened the fluid tip and have not used it yet. I will test it on Friday. The big day is Saturday. The jambs are all painted and ready for final paint.
Thanks
