Hello I’m looking for some info on why I’m getting a halo here latelyon my blends. I’m using r&m solvent base and r&m 5335 clear. I just sprayed a side of a grand Marquis replaced the two doors blended in to the fender and quarter. But I have some haloing in both blend areas. Here is a pic not sure if ya can see it that well.
Attachments:September 4, 2013 at 2:45 am #44371We need more info, what temp reducer are you using?spray gun, pressure sprayed at,using a wetbed for your blend. How long are you waiting before clear?
Most times too fast of a reducer is to blame, dropping your pressure a few psi will help on a belnd as well.Sometimes clearing too soo with some products can cause the metallics to shift around.Once we have more info maybe we can help :cheersSeptember 4, 2013 at 3:00 am #44372What Jayson said.
Slower solvent work much better for tough metallics. Also try rolling your wrist to blend and not flicking.
make sure the color your blending has a good flip. if the flip goes too dark or light you will always see the blend.
September 4, 2013 at 3:27 am #44373I’m using ur60 as the reducer with a Sata 3000 Rp spraying at 25psi the place I work has never used a wet bed on any of the blends. The main painter/owner never has a problem but he really doesn’t explain things very good ether and it was probably 10 to 15 min before clear.
September 4, 2013 at 3:39 am #44374When you have lots of experience with one product you know what you can get away with(your boss)with out issues.Depending on what the temp was you coud try half extra slow /half slow and maybe give it an extra 10 mins before clear. On your last coat you could increase your distance a couple of inches but don’t put it on dry.
September 4, 2013 at 3:51 am #44375Yeah I’m still trying to figure out what mid wet is on the base. I have worked here for a few years but just really starting to do a lot of the painting. I only have blend issues with my silvers mostly. I have never went to any school on this just learning what I can from watching and reading. I think I have my clear gun set up pretty good but still tweaking the base gun. Is there any videos out there on non wet bed blends. Thanks
